Responding-Really Responding-to Other Students' Writing
Richard Straub
This reading was also incredibly helpful to my development as a writer. This reading not only helped me better my way of responding to my peers writing, but it also, helped me see a new way of critiquing my own work. I have picked up a couple techniques from this reading of what to look for so I can make my “shitty first draft” just a little better because I get annoyed if I don't have a really good first draft. Getting classmates to look at it usually helps too, they can give you a point of view about something you may have not thought about, which can drastically change the tone of the paper you’re writing. However, as many of us do when our work is critiqued, I can get annoyed. I especially don’t like when someone says something about a part that I thought was really well written, and don’t want to change. This reading has also helped me respond to my peers when they critique my writing!
